Jennette's Pier To Be Rebuilt
05/22/2009 to 12/31/2010
As most of you know the North Carolina Aquariums Jennette’s Pier project is now underway.
Ground breaking for the project is scheduled for May 22.
When completed, the Pier will offer traditional pier fishing, beach access and educational programs for children and adults, similar to those currently offered at the Aquarium. This is, however, a large, complicated and complex project that will take approximately 22 months to complete; throughout the construction period there will be some noticeable effects and inconveniences in the immediate area surrounding the pier site.

We would like to make you aware of some of these inconveniences. Pier pilings will be washed down to a certain point, then driven to a final depth. There will be an increase in construction and delivery vehicle traffic around the site. Depending upon the schedule, it may be necessary for some work to be done on weekends. Public access to the beach immediately adjacent to the construction site and parking in the area will be limited. North-South traffic on the beach along the oceanfront will be restricted, and a fence will be constructed at the boundaries of the construction site to limit access. Every effort will be made to minimize these inconveniences.
